Converting DVD/VHS video to Digital
Requirements:
Diamond USB to Composite Adapter
VCR/DVD player
Computer with necessary software
Driver for Diamond Adapter
Video Recording software (Quicktime or AVRecorder)
Setup
Power on VCR/DVD
Power on computer
Log in to computer
Plug in FlashDrive or External Hard Drive to iMac
Open QuickTime Player
Select File, New Movie Recording
Click the Down arrow next to the record button to select the source to record from.
Under Camera, Select USB Auto Detect
Under Microphone, Select “USB Device”
Click Record.
VCR
a. Press Play on VCR (may want to queue up to a specific spot first)
b. Wait for video to finish
12. DVD
a. Select the Chapter you want to record or press Play
b. Wait for video to finish
When video/audio finishes,
13. Click Stop in Quicktime
14. Press Stop on VHS/DVD Player
15. in Quicktime, close the Movie Window (listed as Untitled)
16. It should prompt you with “Do you want to keep this new document ‘Untitled’?”
17. Type in a name for the file in “Export As”
19. Click Save (It will encode the finished file which might take some time)
20. Move to SharePoint or upload to video site (Youtube, MS Stream, Vimeo, etc…)
Converting Audio only to Digital
· Follow the same instructions except also click “File, New Audio Recording” after step 9 and use the “Audio Recording” window to do step 10.
