Windows Laptops (Adequate for most students)

  • OS: Windows 11 recommended

  • RAM: 16 GB or more

  • Storage: 500 GB or more

  • Processor: Intel i5 / Ryzen 5 or better

  • Storage Type: SSD over HDD (faster performance)

Apple Laptops

  • RAM: 8 GB or more

  • Storage: 500 GB or more

  • Processor: M3 or better

  • Note: The new MacBook Neo would suffice for web browsing and using Office, but not for students in a major that requires specialty software.

Requirements & Restrictions

  • Engineering & Computer Science majors:
    → Windows required (required software is not compatible with Mac)

  • Chromebooks/iPads:
    → Not compatible with some university software

  • Art, Graphic Design, etc. majors:
    → Macs are recommended by professors

Buying Tips

  • DO NOT buy Microsoft Office
    → It’s already provided to students

  • Be cautious of add-ons during purchase
    → Most are unnecessary upsells

  • Avoid store warranties
    → Manufacturer warranties are usually better and can be extended later
