Setup

  1. Power on VCR/DVD

  2. Power on computer

  3. Log in to computer

  4. Plug in FlashDrive or External Hard Drive to iMac

  5. Open QuickTime Player

  6. Select File, New Movie Recording

  7. Click the Down arrow next to the record button to select the source to record from.

  8. Under Camera, Select USB Auto Detect

  9. Under Microphone, Select “USB Device”

  10. Click Record.

  11. VCR

a.     Press Play on VCR (may want to queue up to a specific spot first)

b.     Wait for video to finish

12.  DVD

a.     Select the Chapter you want to record or press Play

b.     Wait for video to finish

 

When video/audio finishes,

13.  Click Stop in Quicktime

14.  Press Stop on VHS/DVD Player

15.  in Quicktime, close the Movie Window (listed as Untitled)

16.  It should prompt you with “Do you want to keep this new document ‘Untitled’?”

17.  Type in a name for the file in “Export As”

18.  Select the FlashDrive or External Hard Drive in “Where”

19.  Click Save (It will encode the finished file which might take some time)

 

Converting Audio only to Digital on iMac

·      Follow the same instructions except also click “File, New Audio Recording” after step 9 and use the “Audio Recording” window to do step 10.
