Connecting to the Wi-Fi and Splash Pages
MVNU has several different networks that are used by different groups for different things. The most common networks that are used are MVNU-student, MVNU-employee, MVNU-devices, and MVNU-guest.
MVNU-student is for student use on phones, computers, laptops, and tablets.
MVNU-employee is for faculty and staff use on phones, computers, laptops, and tablets.
MVNU-devices are for use on devices that can’t use an internet browser to bring up the splash page. Common examples are TVs, speakers, and smart home devices.
MVNU-guest is for the use of those visiting the campus who do not have an account and can’t login to MVNU-student or MVNU-employee
All 4 networks operate at different speeds. MVNU-student and MVNU-employee are the fastest, and currently operate at the same speed. MVNU-devices is the next fastest. MVNU-guest is the slowest out of these four networks, as it is intended for occasional use by visitors, so it is recommended that you connect to one of our other networks if possible.
Splash Pages
A splash page is a page that pops up when you connect to a Wi-Fi network and allows you to log in with an individual account. MVNU-student, MVNU-employee, and MVNU-guest all currently use a splash page in order to allow you to log on to the Wi-Fi.
The splash page should pop up automatically when you connect to any of these networks for the first time. If it does not pop up automatically, open a browser and go to http://splash.mvnu.edu .
The splash page will not pop up every time you connect to MVNU-student or MVNU-employee, since your device will stay logged in for 90 days. After 90 days, the splash page will pop up and you will be prompted to log in again.
MVNU-guest will bring up the splash page daily.
If you are having difficulty getting the splash page to pop up, or difficulty logging in, pleas contact Signal Team for assistance at wifi@mvnu.edu or by texting (740)324-5545.
Connecting to MVNU-student, MVNU-employee, or MVNU-guest
Both MVNU-student and MVNU-employee currently use a splash page to allow individuals to log onto the Wi-Fi using their MVNU accounts.
To connect to either of these networks, open your Wi-Fi settings and select the network that you would like to connect to. Once you are connected, your device should automatically open an internet browser and take you to the splash page, where you can log in with your MVNU account.
MVNU-guest also uses a splash page but does not require users to log on with an account. After connecting to MVNU-guest, you will be taken to a splash page that will ask you to agree to terms and conditions. Once you click the agree button, you will be connected automatically.
Once you have logged in to the Wi-Fi, you should not need to log in every time you connect to the network. You will be prompted to log in again every 90 days after your first login on MVNU-student or MVNU-employee. MVNU-guest will bring up the splash page once a day.

Connecting to MVNU-devices
MVNU-devices is intended to be used with devices that can’t bring up an internet browser, and therefore can’t log in using the splash page. Common examples of such devices include TVs, streaming devices, speakers, and smart home devices such as Amazon echoes (Alexas) or Google nests.
To connect to this network, open your Wi-Fi menu and select the MVNU-devices network. Your device will prompt you to enter a password. The password for this network is MVNU1968. Once you enter the password, your device should connect to the MVNU-devices network.
Some devices may have difficulty connecting to the MVNU-devices network because of the specific Wi-Fi settings on that device. If your device is unable to connect to MVNU-devices even after entering the password, please contact Signal Team for assistance connecting your device at wifi@mvnu.edu or by texting (740)324-5545.
